Default torque?

i have pedistal roller rockers. one of my cylinders does not fire or hold compression due to a burnt valve. the roller clicks like a *****. anyone know the torque spec or anything around it. im about just to take them out. should i just put them down as tight as possible?

there is no adjustment, it just bolts down. i think the torque on any 5/16 bolt is 18-21 lbs

I don't think that's a good idea, there are torque specs for a reason. I believe the range is 18-25ft-lbs, however you need the correct pushrod. If your pushrod is too long it will probably give an inaccurate reading. When your cam was installed was your engine ever measured for correct pushrods? When tightening the bolt, once you reach zero lash (the point the rocker doesn't move) it should reach torque spec within like 3/4 of a turn on the wrench.

yes, when you torque down the rockers both valves have to be fully closed.

Yeah, with the valves closed you finger tighten the capscrew until 0 lash(no clearance between the valetrain parts, but the lifter plunger has not compressed) and then the torque of 18-25lb-ft should occur between 1/4 to 1 full turn of the capscrew. If the torque occurs before 1/4 turn after 0 lash you need longer pushrods, if the torque occurs after 1 full turn you need to shim the pedestal.
