Default Heating?

Is it normal for fox bodies to heat up at traffic lights, Driving my 88 gt hatch i noticed that at lights or in traffic the cars temp rises, Driving it is level but it climbs quickly at stop. Is this normal. I dont want to over heat in traffic. Its a DD

no its not normal for that to happen. do you have an electric fan have you checked your fluid level?

No, it's not normal. There is a flow problem. Things to check
no debris in front of the rad
fan clutch operating correctly
The radiator could be clogged
T-stat partially closed

you bump a thread but yet dont answer any of the questions.....right, ok sooo how are we supposed to help you if you dont fill us in.

To answer your question in general NO it is NOT normal for a stang to heat up in traffic/idle/stop etc. Is ther clutch fan / electric fan working/on? Is your coolant level low? Is your radiator clogged? Try turning on your heat, and see if it blows hot. Good luck, Merry Christmas Eve.

check your fan clutch and how far does the gauge climb up too????

i bumped to get some more people's advice. sorry, Ill check the coolant level. How do i check the fan, t-stat, or clogged radiator?

i put some 50:50 in there. I couldnt see any in the overflow. It seems to have done it. It warms up and i let it sit for a good 5 min and it stayed almost level. It was a little higher but much better. Thanks Guys.

that should be good anything like that power steering making noise or engine temp a little high check your fluids before anything.

the heater doesnt seem to work. I tried it and the air was not hot or cold.
