3.8 to 5.0 swap

3.8 to 5.0 swap
I found a 94 5.0 stang with 60,000 miles on it. It's entire back was mangled from a side swipe. But the front is in near perfect condition.
What would I need out of this car to do a full swap from my 1997 3.8 5 speed.
Be VERY specific.

RE: 3.8 to 5.0 swap
I cant be too specific but what you would need would be a....
*The engine of course
*Full wiring harness off the engine
*All the electrical to the ECU and any sensors
*Not sure about the K-Frame after 1995 but up untill 95' the K-Frames were the same with the exception of the motor mounts, if unsure and just want more performance then just get a QA1 Tubular K-Frame for $200 bux. If you want to do the whole front suspension then get the QA1 full kit for $900 bux to beef up that front suspension.
*It would be wise to upgrade the brakes even though the 5.0 only puts out something like 215hp.
*Transmission would have to be upgraded and then you would need the wiring harness for that.
*Possibly a custome driveshaft if you decide to move the engine back with the QA1
*An 8.8" rear end would be preferable because the stock 7.5" isnt as strong, probably only good up untill about 400-450 ft-lbs torque but it CAN be beefed up if you really didnt want to change. Auburn makes a great Diff for it.
*Double hump crossmember for true dual exhaust (At least on my 95')
***LIVE IN A STATE THAT DOESNT CARE IF IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL ENGINE OFFERED WITH THE CAR***
Somes states like California wont allow you to put an engine in a car that wasnt originally offered with it. So check with local laws first, you might be limited to a 4.6 2V or 4V. In either case in 97' I beleive the horsepower of the 4.6 2V was still something like 215 where as the 4V was 305hp and a much better swap because of the excelant head design with the DOHC. If you can only find a 2V then do the PI head swap which will increase your power to something like 265hp or around there, all you need for that is 99+ heads off a GT.
There are alot of other little things that you will need to do for the swap, a 4.6L swap would be much less complicated and the state governement wont be too upset

RE: 3.8 to 5.0 swap
Ahh, wrong year, wrong model wrong location, heh its ok. I wouldnt bother with that engine unless you were going to rebuild it. Honestly its better to get a 4.6 for your car.
Good Luck!

RE: 3.8 to 5.0 swap
I live in Greeley. You know in the NE area. Weld County.
If I see a 4.6 with a reasonable price I would do it. Don't think I would find a better price v8 engine really maybe I will check. http://www.ebay.com
I know I never want to sell the overall body of the car. I mean NEVER. Don't ask why or whatnot. It will rot in a garage before I sell it.
