85 mustang rear end

what size is the rear end in an 85 mustang i thought it was 8.8 but someone told me today it is 7.5 i need to know this because im planning on getting new gears soon

7.5 and if want to swap gears, get a 8.8 since the 7.5 wont hold much

my 92 4cyl concersion has a 85 7.5 trac loc in it and it runs 13.80's and I've had a few friends use them and run 12's on the 7.5...it's all in how hard you launch..the harder you launch the more strain on it

I had an '85 GT vert and the LSD didn't live long in the stock rear. When I did the 351W swap an 8.8 was swapped in. Since you're regearing anyway, I'd use this as an opportunity to swap.

Ive seen 7.5 lift the front tires of the ground....but....i have also seen them break driving like normal.....flip the coin.
Mine has 7.5, but switching to 8.8 just because id rather know it is stronger
