Default 91 Mustang Start Problem

I have an issue with re starting my stang after its been running awhile. Once the starter gets hot it won't turn over. It strains too but then that's it. I wrapped it with a heat blanket but it didn't help. The header is about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch away from it. Any ideas on what to do to stop the problem?

I had the same problem in my f150. It sucks. I never figured out a way to fix it though, sorry.

I'm new to doing all this stuff with cars. I have BBK long headers. It seems I do one thing with the car and then there's another issue. [:@] I just don't want to keep running it and have more stuff go wrong. Any ideas??

Buy a high torque mini starter and wrap some insulation material around it for added protection. Or wrap your headers with some header wrap.

as long as all your connections are clean and you have good grounds ..there are two solutions to this issue of heat soak.......#1 you can buy a high torque mini starter ar do what I did..since my starter was original on my 85..I went down to Napa and got a new .REMAN one and put it in and I have long tubes so after mine heated up It had the same issue and my stock bawas only 550 cca so what I did from here was upgraged the alt to a simgle wire powermaster 100 amp one and relocated battery to the trunk away from all heat source and installed a optima red top battery with 1000 cca......and you don't have to relocate the battery but I did it for space reasons under the hood..I needed space for the msd ignition...anyway since the upgrade to the optima..when it's hot and in the summer I do notice a little strain on the starter but it still cranks over good and no more no starts due to heat soak

I will start to look for a decent hi torque starter. Anyone know of any good mechanics in the Jacksonville area? I don'thave a lift or extra hands to help tackle this job. Thanks again for your help.
