Engine just sitting....what to do?
I was putting a new (used) engine in my 87 coupe, and ran out of time before I had to go back to Florida for school. I got the engine in with new clutch and all that, but I dont have a tranny in and the accessories are not on. It has been sitting there in the yard since August. (around 5 months). It is a used engine with 110,000 miles on it. How bad is that on the engine? What steps should I take, or at least have my friend take to ensure the engine will work when I finally get to finish everything and turn the key? The engine is just sitting in the engine bay.

Take the plugs out and put a small amount of clean motor oil in each cylinder with a turkey baster and then rotate the crank a few times with a rachet, then put the plugs back in.
If you really want to be thorough... take the dizzy out and get a socketwith an extension that will fit a drill and spin the oil pump shaft. (make sure you have oil in the oil pan) That will pump oil to all the internal parts. Doboth of the aboveevery so often and it can sit as long as you want it to without problems.

Thanks man. Hopefully Ill find the time to get a tranny and finally get the stang back on the streets of Tallahassee, Im sick of all these slow imports that sound like weedwackers and lawnmowers are having a long drawn out battle.
