no spark but car is turning over
Hey I have a 1990 mustang GT 5.0. The other day it was idling in driveway and it just shut off. We thought it was a fuel issue but found that it is getting fuel. Does anyone have any ideas on to what the problem could be? thanks

It's the igntion control module. So I take it there is no spark when the engine is cranking? It could also be the pick up coil inside the distributor.
TFI
Pick up coil similar to what's in the stock one but not exact

RE: no spark but car is turning over
if you don't have the toubleshooting tree to properly test the tfi for all the signal interpretations then take it off and take it down to napa or autozone and they can test it for free...as for the pick up/stator inside the dizzy you need to back probe the correct wires and will need a wiring diagram for that....and a multimeter set to ac current testing...because the stator is a hall effect sensor that generates a ac current signal that will occilate in varying voltage signals which if it does that while back probing the correct wires while cranking the motor over then it's safe to say that's not the problem.....and if the tfi module is working and the stator is working you can rule that out quick yourself by pulling off the coil wire on top of the cap and have someone crank it while you check for spark with either a inline spark checker or hold it close to the top of the prong on the cap and while cranking look for spark to arc off the wire to the prong...be careful use insulated pliers to do that part if you don't have an inline spark checker....if see spark then it is most likely a cap or rotor issue...if no sparky spark then the coil is not being triggered......and then I'd look for a issue with tfi or stator....as long as you have 12 volts coming to the coil and no blown fuses that will be the route to take.....you could also check for injector pulse if you had a noid light that info also comes from the tfi as an input to the ecm as to when to sequentially fire the injectors..the pip signal from the tfi is what the ecm uses to determine that
