ok so i got a freshly rebuilt T5 in my 86 gt. works great. took my car for inspection and the mechanic told me it has the wrong gear for the speedo. he said its fine to run but call the place up where we got it and ask him about it. we used the same cable that we had in the old tranny. so we tested it by driving past one of those digital radar things, when the speedo says 55 its doing like 35 40. so is it the gear thats bad? the mechanic said the gear is easily removed so im assuming its an easy fix?

 

the speedo tooth gear is wrong, call them up and have em change it.

 

yeah it's an easy fix pull the drive assembley out at the tranny where the cable goes into..there is a 5/16 bolt with a retainer holding the assembley on...bolt head is either 10 mm or 7/16 if I remember right....and i went yesturday to get shipping costs for you on the cluster but the dand place closed at noon!!! if still interested let me know oh and I saw you live in coatesville!!
