Lower shift boot- 50 resto
I just got my car back from a tranny rebuild/new clutch, and ordered a shift bootkit from 50resto, because I switched from a hurst to a tri-ax, and didn't want the hurst bezel, and the lower boot was cut. I have heard that peole do this for clearance, and when they said clearance, most have mentioned to get the short throw in and out of second.
Now that I have the tri-ax, the shifter bezel (basically the black trim ring) won't sit down at all b/c the lower shift boot is taller than stock and won't let it clip in. The stock one is not an option to reuse, I called Ford these are obsolete. 50resto said it's probably b/c of the tri-ax. Anyone run in to this situation?
Did you just cut the 50resto boot??? Or did you cut you stock boot previoulsyb/c you couldn't get the bezel to lay down. Thanks...

RE: Lower shift boot- 50 resto
the reason you have to cut the boot for clearance is cause a short throw shifter has shift stops that are adjustable and it makes the base bulkier..no two ways around it...cut a slit in the boot to allow extra room and then put the leather shifter cover base back in place or in most case vynal one ..I bought the leather one...anyway do so and you'll be fine

Yeah I was figuring that that would be the directionI would have to go...Quick question, would you just cut it straight down from the center to the back (as in from the center to the six o'clock position). My old one was just ripped to sh*t in three different ways so I don't know which would be right... Thanks for the response.
