Default Tremec 3550

I am looking to replace my fried T-5 with either a Z or a 3550/500.I am leaning more towards a 3550/500 as I eventually would like a stroker. What would I need to buy for the 3550or a 500for it to fit anddoes 3550=500 in torque capacity?

I personally dont like the Tremec's trans....Ironically I have two of them in the 4 stangs I own...LOL and they just dont like to be shifted fast or in the high high Rev's and are notchy as hell....I would go with the Z spec T5...you can shift them like Honda trannies....LOL

Or you could get a junkyard T-5 and rebuild it with something like a G-force upgrade kit. Spend the same or maybe less than on a new TKO and it'd be easily as strong.

get a new tko, they originaly had a problem shifting like stang guy said but they have been redesigned and no longer have any problems, i have one in my car and it shifts just as smooth as my old pos t-5, even at the high revs.

Yea, the early tko's were said to have problems shifting at high rpm's. I have the 600 and i love it. It's smooth not notchy and when i'm feeling ballsy will shift as high as 6800 rpm's with not a hint of trouble. They are great tranny's and can handle plenty of abuse without a hiccup.

i have a 90 coupe that runs consistent 9.0s with a 3550 shifting at 7500. also have one in my 01cobra shifting it at 7200. i have been through 4 g-force t5s. ur crispness in ****fting lis in your clutch. most soft diaphram style pressure plates dont release cleanly at hgh rpms because the fingers actually flex when depressed. i use a long style and shift with no problems as high as 8 grand. hope this helps u guys out. just joined and have plenty of knowledge to share. feel free to email or ask me any questions.

A buddy of mine has a TKO 600 in his 5.0 and he beats the crap out of it and it just takes it like nothing, he also power shifts it like crazy at the strip and again no problems, im going to be geting the 500 soon when i get the money saved up.
