Speedo Gear
Ok so when i installed my new t5 in my car and started driving it i noticed that my speedo was so badly off, i ignored it untill i ordered the gear set from cj pony parts. I took the gear off the cable and it had 16 teeth, and i wasnt sure which one to install so iinstalled the 20 tooth one. Now my speedo is within a resonable amount, but still off 5 to 10 mph, would putting the 21 tooth gear cover that ?? they gave me 5 different gears in that set, but i only used the 20 and it make it semi work. now atleast i have some idea of how fast im going.
but would using the 21 tooth gear either bring it to being accurate or darn near?

RE: Speedo Gear
5 speed or aod ?
aod's have a 8t drive and your '88 (if it's a t5) has a 7t drive
also you need to know what gears you do have......they can range from 2.73-3.27 depending if it's aod or t5, 3.27 was available on aod cars
anyways
go to http://www.ddperformance.com and click the link on spedo gear chart or whatever it's called
you'll need to do the "raise butt and count" method to see what you do have though and go accordingly.

RE: Speedo Gear
i copied it, but it won't paste right......
for 2.73's a 7t needs a 16t and a 8t needs a 18t
for 3.08's it's 18t and 20t

RE: Speedo Gear
there comes a point where if the driven gear replacement doesn't correct speed then you'll have to replace the drive gear on the end of the output shaft with the correct one that corresponds to the gears in the rear
