Default Baer Brakes do you have them?
I am thinking about ordering a 5 lug 13' Baer brake Track kit for my 89 LX. Both front and rear kits, with Adj Prop Valve.

Just looking for feedback on baer brakes in general, especially on a fox. I already have the 95 spindles, and 93 brake booster installed.

Any info good or bad would be appreciated. Just wondering if it is work the money. My car stops terribly now, so I definetly need an improvement.

If it matters I am running 17x8 Bullitt wheels (5 lug).
I was also wondering if I should go with 13 inches front and back, or would I be better off with the 12 inch kits?
Thanks

13" front / 12" rear. You gotta remember that 80% of your stopping power comes from the front 2 tires. So good brakes up front are pretty important, hell you could get away with 9" rotors in the rear.

Anyway, as far as Baer is concerned, they are a reputable company. One of the original companies that made big brake kits for mustangs. A kit they sold yearss ago was the "claw" kit. It was supposed to stop a mustang faster than a Ferrari from 100-0.

Thanks for the input, I mentioned 12inch rears and 13 inch fronts to baer and they said I should go 13 all the way around. There is only a $60 difference between the 2 sizes, calipers, MC are all the same.

Its kind of unneccessary (sp?). How many front engine, rwd cars do you see with the same size brakes all teh way around? Hardly any (if any). But if you wanna go with the 13"go with it. But Id ask the Baer guy if there's any REAL benefit. There isnt, like I mentioned before, your back brakes only do like 20% of the stopping, so having monsterous rear brakes, accomplishes nothing. On a mid engine car, where the weight is set back thats a whole different story.

I agree, but I thought I would ask because Baer kept pusing the 13's. Hell they were featured in a 50mustang mag article in 2006 where they recommended and supplied the 12 inch kit all the way around for the same set up I have. Their inconsistentcy makes me worry a little.

Thanks though!

You gotta remember any car product company is ALWAYS about the bottom line. So if they can get you to spend more money the better. Whether you need it or not. Trust me I sell parts all day long, and some of the profit margins I get is a crime, upwards of 1000% sometimes.

I've had Baers on my 89 GT for over 7 years and I've never had 1 problem with them from the day I installed them until now.
The part I liked best was they (Baer) supplied everything you needed in there kit.
You didn't need to order different things from different companies, you didn't need to find 1 part here and another part there, it all came in there kit.
No doubt there are cheaper methods than going with Baer Brakes but for the hassle of chasing down parts and reading 5 different write-ups on what you need and then finding those parts it just wasn't worth my time or effort to go any other way than with Baer Brakes.

Oh yeah.. I have 13" in the front and 12" in the rear and I wouldn't do it differently.

In my opinion you should justgo with thecobra brake setup. The Baer kit is almost identical and cost an arm and a leg. I have all the parts for the Cobra conversion and only have $1300 into it including axles. I also have Brembo cross vented and drilled 13" rotors for the front and 13" Baer rotors for the rear(I know the bigger rotor doesn't help much for the rear but they were about $50 more then the 11.8" rotor FRRP sells. I'll admit that I just bought them for the looks). The calipers Baer gives you are EXACTLY the same as the Cobra set up. They are both made by PBR and are a 45mm dual piston setup.
