O2 Sensors on 1990 5.0
When I fist bought my Mustang, the previous owner had put an off-road h-pipe on it. It was loud, sounded bad, had no cats, and was so rusty it had to be replaced. We happened to have a wrecked 95 GTwith the entire stock exhaust system still in usable condition. With a little modification, it's now in my Fox.
When I was replacing the exhaust, I noticed that the O2 sensors on the old exhaust were nearly shot. I also noticed that the O2 sensors on the exhaust from the 95 were very similar, just one extra tab on the 95. Plus they were 4 wire sensors where the originals were only 3. I figured that the extra wires were just for the heated part of the sensors so I decided to see if I could save some money by using the newer sensors.
My question is this. I put the sensors on and the car seems to run ok, a little hesitant when it's cold but I think that's due to the gas in the tank being over a year old. Would the sensors be causing any problems that I don't know about or is it ok to run the car this way?

I'll have to try that when I get the car back to running. It's actually currently out of comission due to unrelated engine problems. I just wanted to get some input on this problem in case I had to put more into this bottomless moneypit I call a car.
