Default hooking up daytime running lights

I am hooking up daytime running lights and I need to hook one wire up to a wire in the engine compartment that drops to zero volts when the engine is cranking and goes back to 12 volts when the key is relaesed. They suggest a wiper motor wire. I don't havea wiring diagram. Can someone tell me where one of these wires are, the color and exact location? I'm trynig to stay away from running a wire through the firewall. Thanks!

Hmm can't help ya. But why would you want them? My car has them stock because it's Canadian, and I disconnected them. I like having just the running lights on when I drive.

im seeing more and more american cars with daytime lights like that.. but my suggestion is look at the wiper motor, find the hot wire, and follow it to a place where you want to splice into it

If it's too much trouble to find that wire. Just wire it live with the key on. 99% of the time this will not be a problem. 7 years from now when your battery is just about dead, you may make a slight difference but starting/cranking the car with the DRL's on will hardly affect it.

As for why Getafew? It's safer. Next time during sunset. Look in the distance at cars coming towards you. Some are easier to see than others, they are the ones with DRL's.

I just did mine on my 86 today.

You'll have two wires coming off a plastic connector clip. What I had to do, is run one wire, I think it was the hot wire, and splice it into the fog light wiring.

Let me know how you make out and if you're having any probelms I'll work up a diagram with more detailed instructions.
