i had a MAC on my car when it had a 302 in it. They are a little painfull to install (driver side). I bolted the flow tubes up to the header flanges and drove it to a muffler shop and they built the h pipe for $125. I run Kooks on the car now, they fit nice too.

H pipes for long tubes dont cost 200, they are 119 at summit.
in the end the cheaper H pipe and more expensive headers will cost the same amount for shorties which are cheaper but require a more expensive (longer) H pipe.

so now tell me, 250 for a set of shorties, or 350 for a set of long tubes, and like u said, a piece of **** h pipe made by a shipping company for 120. spend over 400, or spend 250.
