is it expensive?
is it expensive?
$1500 sounds low to me, since the fluid is all contaminated you'll need a new converter too, now os the time to definitely think what you wana do w/ the car. if you keep it aotu...just get a lentech trans, it'll be cheaper in the long run
if you rebuild....do the motorsport "low" gearset, it will have 90% of the hard parts you need for the rebuild including a wider od, better 1st and 2nd gears ( 2.84 instead of 2.40 and 1.55 vs 1.47) and the redline clutches if i'm not mistaken. also should do the "a" servo, and a very good shift kit so it oils better. add a good oil cooler as well since heat is what kills aod's
for the converter lok at a precision industries "stallion" 3000
AND BY ALL MEANS .... don't fall for the tranny shops line of crap
they will tell you they have to break it apart to give you a quote to know whats broke...just tell them "everything is broke" otherwise you'll be in it for $300-$400 labor in removal and teardown and almost obligated at that point to let them do it
they will tell you it'll be about $700 but it won't...all of a sudden bench labor comes in....the R&R of it that they forgot to add, the new converter (a stock aod converter will retail for almost $600) they cannot drain or flush the old one...thats why you need a new one
anyways....trust me i've been there...my first 5.0 was a '90 GT that i bought brand new, i was on my 3rd aod when i sold it after 6 years and the car only ran low 14's

RE: AOD HELP PLEASE!
my aod just had the same problem but the only reason for it is the spring that connects from the gas pedal to the throttle will be disconnected look and see if its clipped in or not... for some reason it causes this...
