No start...

No start...
Before I pulled the tranny out, the car would not start or attempt to start. It would click once and the lights would dim almost like a low battery. Hooked up the jumper cables and it would start, unhooked them after letting it run for a while, shut it off and the same thing happened. Click and that was it. Took the battery to both auto zone and advanced auto and it checked out OK. I replaced the cables(ground, and pos to the selenoid) and the same thing happens... It is a 93 5.0.
I plan on getting the tranny in today so I want to get it running so I get take her out for a few this evening... Any thoughts?

RE: No start...
They said the battery was good, and so was the charge on it so I don't think it is the alt. Could it be the solenoid? I am going to take the starter of and get it checked once I get the trans in to eliminate that...

RE: No start...
more often then not those little strter solenoids give you a problem. they are like 4 dollars and are worth replacing because they cause serious problems when they crap out AKA the car trying to start and turn over until you disconnect the battery. i had tons of starting problems with my car and i had the alternator tested and then i went back and checked all of the alternator wiring. finally i replaced the 3 female ended plug that goes into the stock unit and that has since fixed the problem. if you have more trouble pm me and ill se if i can help

RE: No start...
If the car starts with jumpers and not without then it's the alternator. Explain how the starter would be the problem??? It's possible that the car fired up with jumpers and that it is the starter but unlikely, try jumping it again and see if it starts up. Then hook up a voltometer and high resistance ameter to it and check the readings if it does. Do you have any auxilary equipment on the car that could be draining the battery or anything directly connected to it?
