Bad Mechanic or Bad AOD? your thoughts..

RE: Bad Mechanic or Bad AOD? your thoughts..
I've had my share of issues with AODs. They can be built to handle a good amount of power, but not all shops have the knowledge to build them correctly. I had a local shop buildone 2 years ago for my Son's truck ($1800 with them doing the take out and install), and I had nothing but problems the whole time. I took it back to the shop 6 times the 1st year. As I write this reply, it's sitting in the driveway with only 1st and reverse. I picked up a new (rebuilt) one on Friday, that has Alto red clutches, Kolene steels, Kevlar band, and a A+ servo, along with a shift kit. I would recommend whoever you use to use quality parts, and find someone who specializes in AODs. They'redifficult to set up correctly.

That's probably part of the problem. The fact that my roommate doesn't use a guy that has the proper knowledge or use quality parts. He just uses some guy that his dad recommended that happens to be a pastor. If he's a pastor he should be honest and say, "hey, I don't really know what I'm doing with these AOD's and I use crappy parts. Is that going to be a problem?"
