This isn't like the normal bouncy speedo. My 83 speedo jumps everywhere when barly moving. I just replaced the cable and the gear was in good condition so I am thinking that the gears in instrument cluster is screwed up. The cable was melted and seized thats the reason I replaced it. It bounces up to 35 and down and up to like 40 to 5 and everywhere else when I let off the brake to start moving.

replace the head unit.....can't remember if 83 looks llike 85's...but I have a complete 85 cluster if it'll work for ya'

I figured that is what the problem was. They are the same. 83-86 I think are all the same. How much would you want for it??? Do you think if I got a 140 speedo that it would fix it? I am sure that the new gauge comes with the gears and stuff to compensate for the new mph.

dunno?? 15-20 bucks you'll need to pull the instrument voltage reg off yours cause I used this one..it's easy.. it snaps on like a 9 volt battery.......the 140 mph speedo comes calibrated
