Default Fuel pump install issue

Hey guys, last time I did this I must have got lucky cuz this time. So I did the pump swap all that crap. Now when lowering the pump into the tank I can only get the back side of the collar to sit flat...front side has about a 1/4 inch gap and no matter how I position the stupid thing it wont sit flush....when I back it out a hair and level it out feels like the bottom of the unit is hitting the bottom of the tank? Like the pump assembly is "too long" that type of issue....any of you ran into this when doing yours? Is this a rookie move? LOL thanks all.

the pump goes in the baffle at a very nasty angle, this can only be done if the strainer(filter) is on properly, take your time , I feel your pain

also remember the pump lines should be facing to the driver side.front somewhat.,

there is a black clip and a white one, you cannot interchange them, so after the lines and all are up, start and check for leaks
