last year I gained 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile from changing my engine and tranny oil to mobil 1 synthetic.
I was surprised, but the engine oil seems to burn off faster.

Lol, run of the mill is just a saying that means regular. I was talking about the synthetics that aren't specified for high mileage just regular ol' synthetic oils. But they say that synthetics are thinner and they will get through rings and valves easier, and on a high mileage engine there is more space for the oil to do that. Now I'm not 100% sure about this but I've heard it from a few people and I just don't use it.

I run synthetic motor oil on my car with 160,000 miles on it, no problems what-so-ever...

Also, if you have a Napa auto store close to you, go there for everything. I mainly trust Napa and Discount or Advance Auto Parts stores. Pep Boys has the largest selection of some parts, but you lose a bit of quality there, and Autozone is just a ricer store, I do not recommend them for anything. Bennett is OK, but they often times do not offer the namebrands I like, so I tend to not go there.

Yes, i'm picky with my stores, lol.

Synthetics have the same viscosity as regular motor oil. I thought the same things until I read up on it.

Converting your car to synthetic, no matter what the milage is, will benifit your car.

Synthetic oil is broken down further than regular motor oil and specially structured back together. That is why it is better.

And I have two cars over 100K miles when I converted to Synthetics. Because of that the car runs better and has run very strong.

If you don't have synthetics now, switch over. You will gain a small amount of HP that your car was loosing due to regular oil. Plus use synthetics designed for high RPM, high HP engines. They tend to not thicken up as much as conventional motor oil. Leaving more HP due to less friction.

Synthetic is double the price of regular motor oil....but I think it is worth every penny.
