3.55's or 3.73's?
Yep, i'm sure this question's been asked 4,000 times. Ima ask it one more. lol Heres the breakdown, stock '86 gt. Only gettin exhaust(shorty headers, h pipe, flow 40's) and gears. Driver is torque hungry 17yr old who can't afford gas. lol Should I do 3.55's or 3.73's? No major plans for a long time.[/align]

RE: 3.55's or 3.73's?
go 3.73
for the record im still saving up for them
i thought about that for a really long time cause im kinda in the same spot as you
the reason why i decided 3.73 is because i dont think that the little bit of more gas mileage is worth the much bigger difference that 3.73's make over 3.55's

RE: 3.55's or 3.73's?
I used to be dead set on the 3.55's but I've started reconsidering the 3.73's after my friend got a set. His city mpg actually increased because he needs less throttle to accelerate and could shift into 5th sooner. On the highway he still gets ~22mpg as opposed to the 24 or so he was getting before.
As was mentioned there isn't a significant difference between the 3.55 and 3.73 gearset but after seeing how my friend's car reacted to 3.73s I am considering going with the slightly steeper gear. I still have my 3.08s but I have driven my friend's GT a couple times and the difference is noticeable.
