timing issue

ok so me dad and i pulled the ford racing balancer off toclean it up( you couldnt see the timing marks) and we go to re-time the car we pull out the spout and put it to about 12 or 14 and the car didnt run right at all...had no power what so ever....so my dad put it back to what ever it was at ( i think 10) and the car runs the same as it did before....my dad think my dizzy is in wrong..i need opinons !!!!! thanks everyone

Have you pulled and re-installed the distributor lately? If so, do it again and make sure your at TDC on the compression stroke.

no i havent taken the distributor out since i got the car...car was set at 10degrees so we left it because the car ran good...but my dad wants to advance to see if it improves and when we bumoed it up the car ran like crapppp so he said when he has time he will re stab the dizzy..the guy i got the car from wasnt to bright either....we pretty much went over everything and corrected whathe had wrong..except the timing lol

have you checked to see if the timing marks are correct? pull it up on tdc and see if the marks line up

according to what the ford tech said they are correct..my dad set it at tdc and said it was good
