In your case I would honestly leave the engine alone if it's in good shape. Do the gears first, 3.73's or 4.10's depending on were and how you drive. If the car has an auto put a good shift kit in it from B&M. It's a cheap mod that has great results. These mods will make your car feel more powerful when it's really not.

For the engine: It depends on what you look at the car being in a few years. Alot of people start with a whole bunch of bolt on parts (witch is not a bad thing) only to have to take them off when the do H-C-I. If you can't see your self doing alot of engine mods in the future stick with some good bolt ons. But if you have the mechanical skill, $, and really want to see gains do the H-C-I first and build off of that.

But that only my opinion. Good luck and have fun with your new stang, They are great cars!

hey man, i guess everyone starts off different but heres what iv started with, 3.73 gears, short throw shifter, underdrives, got rid of the ac and the air silencer. In the future i plan to get a full exhaust, and get rid of my stock turbine rims. Good luck !

your 87 is still speed density, the first mod I would do is gears, then clutch, shifter, and before you do anything to the motor get a mass air conversion kit.
unless you want to get a chip burned for every mod you do.
