there is usually a stiff metal backing on which the double sided tape is stuck too..I remove the metal backing so the trim lays flat and clean the surface with wax and grease remover and I believe I bought a roll of 3m double sided tape 1/2 wide from the autobody paint store.. it was like 30 dollars for a roll[:@]

How hard/easy is it to get the metal strip off? And how much tape comes on that$30 roll?

It comes off very easy with some pliers. I just use a $7 roll of 3m double sided

I used the 30 dollar one cause it was 1/2 wide so I wouldn't have to double up on the thinner stuff and enough comes on the roll to do more than the complete car.. I still am using the same roll 5 years later on odds and ends little projects when they arise
