Default Electrical Problem

I just recently got my car back from the shop because of an electrical short. They told me that my tach was shorting out my entire system and it fryed my ECM, and my distributor. So i replaced both of them. They disconnected my tach and my shift lights. I got the same ECM as before and i got a MSD distributor. Now, heres the problem--> I am going through alternators like water, i fryed 3 in 2 days. This is not good news. Could this be due to the new distributor putting out too much power? Or is this still a short in my system. Oh yeah i dont know if this would matter or not but ill put it in here, my distributor was put in out of time, so the timing is off.
