i have a question then why is my TPS setting at 4.95 volts then
i have a question then why is my TPS setting at 4.95 volts then
There are three wires on the TPS. One is ground. One is constant 5V (or in this car 4.95V for you), and the other is the actual adjusting voltage wire...the .75V
Black is the ground
Red/Orange is the supply wire (5V)
Green is the signal wire (0-5V)
You must have probbed the wrong wire.

Thanks for the input. So that module that you can buy from Caspers electonics that plugs in between the computer and the tps, does that do the same thing as upping the voltage yourself? I bought my 86 from my buddy and it had that module on it, but I took it off a while back cuz I thought it was screwing up my idle, but it turned out to be something else. I haven't put it back on yet.

I then got to thinking....should I adjust my TPS? So I started to look for my voltmeter and when I found it started to set it. The sensor was reading .76V when I started. I tried moving it but only got to .80V so I had to remove it and drill the holes larger. After that I got it to read .85V so I drilled the holes a lot larger. I got it to its final setting of .99V

Both because the way the sensor is designed there is a metal piece that turns in a circle under the TPS. When I bored one hole the whole sensor was off to the side and I felt that the sensor would not turn well if not completely over it. When you pull yours off you will see what I am talking about.
Also I don't think you can up the voltage that much if just one is bored. I had to bore both holes about 50% more elongated than they were normally.

went to adjust my tps and found to my surprise it reads .91 so I up it to .99
some one (I guess the guy I bought the car from) had already done it
also found some loose header bolts and stoped my exhaust leak. Now justneed a timing light
