Default mac shorty header help

I am attempting to install mac shorty headers on my 90 gt. I already have a summit off road h-pipe installed. I cannot for the life of me, get the headers to bolt up. I did not remove the h-pipe for the install. Its almost like the h-pipe is putting pressure on the header, thus i can only get one or two bolts started then the others will not start. Ihad the understanding that the h-pipe did not need to be removed for this install. I just cannot get the flanges to bolt up. From anyone that has done this before, Am I doing something wrong????? I have installed headers on plenty of cars over the years so I am not a rookie!!!!!!!! Any help would be appreciated

from what i understand you need to loosen the hangers on the entire system, put them in and then bolt everything up tight.

But then I have never done this myself, just done some research in preperation for my own......

Are the headers new or used. The worst thing about mac headers is they don't have connected flanges and sometimes they don't line up easily. Espesially if they are used.

They are new mac headers. Sounds like I need to drop the h-pipe. I had a bear of a time getting my summit pos pipe to fit when I installed it. I have a new tci aod comming in about a week so I guess it is comming down anyway.

When you say "connected flanges" what do you mean?

You can get that H pipe off in minutes, which would be alot less time/headach trying to thread header bolts with midpipe in place.
