Ive had 3 different Stangs that came stock with the Map Lights. Try taking the 2 screws out of it and pulling it out of the headliner, Be sure all the connections are clean and not corroaded.

sad to say, but you wont find anything more than generic help here. thats custom, not factory.
those style lights should auto-power-on when you pull it down from the parked position. i can only assume that either that switch is dead, or there is no power going into it to begin with.
start taking it apart and do some testing.
Theyre factory but only for a few years.

I've had those map lights in two of my cars... in one of them, the switch became corroded or just bad. But, if you said you replaced the whole unit with a junk yard part, I would check to see if you are getting power to the leads... a multimeter will make quick work of that. If you are getting power, then you know there's something wrong with both. If you aren't then you can check the fuses and if that's okay, you can try to trace back the wiring and look for a ground or bad wire.

ok you need to learn who the people are on this forum that you dont run your mouth about... as was stated above, the "map light" was an option only for a few years, and NONE of my wiring diagrams show it as even being in the car at all.
Not to mention that the 3 of these cars I've owned never had it.
So stop calling people rook, and noob. You have no idea who I am.
