The carbon fiber kit I bought for my mustang came with the clutch packs and steels premeasured as a set, you just pop them in and re-assemble the rear. I just rebuilt the one in my Son's truck with the stock replacement clutches, and this is how I like to set them up. The stock set up for a 8.8 clutch pack is .640 - .645 (this is measured with the clutches and steels clamped together, and measured with a digital caliper). For performance, mostpeople like to set them up a little tighter than stock @ .655 - .660. Anything over .660, and you won't be able to roll the spider gears back in the housing. Like mjr46 said, you adjust the thickness withthe steels that vary in thickness. Don't forget to soak the clutches in friction modifier for15- 30 minutes before installing.

^^^^^^^^^correcto!!! I shim it just enough so I can still roll the spyder gears back in which with a new clutch pack I end up using the .035 shim on both packs
