Default Chrome Thermostat Housing Q

Ok, I had a chrome thermostat housing on my car, however last week after doing a little bit of aggressive driving I got home and it was pooring out radiator fluid from the underside of the housing. I took it to my local shop (I wasn't sure if the timing cover gasket also went, trust me I can do this myself), and they came to the conclusion that the housing warped. Well they blasted off all the crome, and resurfaced the back side and put it back on. My complaint is it's ugly as hell now with bare sandblasted steel exposed and already has rust spots, I can see it not lasting and will not win any brownie points at shows.

My question is if anybody has heard of this happening with chrome covers?

If so, what did you do?

Does anybody know where to get a stock cover for a 95 stang (I'd rather stock aluminum than rusted steel). I don't think I still have mine and 50 resto is having issues right now as they have one.
