RPM drop after clutch pressed...??
I have noticed that occasionally when driving my car will drop in RPM fast. It used to do this when the voltage was low, but I am for sure that this is not the case anymore. I just bought a brand new battery and my volts stay the same.
When I am driving (usually cold engine to a warm engine) I will accel normally and then push in the clutch...usually the RPM drop to 1000 and float there, but sometimes it drops down to 800 and sometimes even 400-500 then back up. This is not a problem but I would like to know why it does that.
I can tell it does it because when I shift into the next gear and release the clutch the RPM going from 500 to my cruising RPM the car jerks a bit. When it is from 1000RPM to cruising RPM it is a smooth transition.
I think the fuel pump may not be supplying enough pressure but I do not have a guage so I cant tell. The fuel pump does humm pretty loud all the time. Sounds like those GMC suburbans and trucks when on.
Any ideas?
