Odd pop or tick after engine is turned off
Its been awhile since I posted, hoping for some insight.
The 88 vert project has been on hold for a little bit and for sale now. Anyway I am convinced the damn thing is possessed and doesn't want to be sold..... Today this guy came by to look it over, started it up, gave it a couple revs, then tried to offer $300 for it, check no less. I of course said no and he went his way, all the while car is running. I shut it off and heard a weird tick or pop that continued after it was shut off, didn't pay much attention just thought the headers heated up expanding. I started it up again later and all runs well idles fine, no noise, good throttle response but again same noise when engine is turned off. I thought pinging at first but repeating the test it sounds like the noise if coming from the center of the engine so I am at a loss. Oil was new but I changed it anyway because it had a faint smell of gas, probabaly from the mis-fire trouble I had way back...... still not sure what it could be any ideas?

My grandmother borrowed my camera so I tried my phone but the noise is so faint it didn't pick it up.
A little more to the story, another guy came by, started and ran it for a while and when it shut off no noise this time so I am at a loss.
Now for a amusing story..... The guy that came brought his dad, they kept speaking spanish to each other back and forth as they walked around, kicking the tires, revving the engine. Kept telling each other see if you can get it cheaper, tell him it needs this or that. So the kid would say, oh it leaks oil you can see it near the valve covers.... I point at my progress board and show him new gaskets have already been installed. Next was, its 20 years old and will need new vacuum hoses, again point to the board and then point out the new hoses. This went on and on for a few minutes till I had enough and answered back in spanish. They both paused changed over to eye contact and glances. The kid then says, it is leaking coolant so I couldn't go more than 700...... I walk over and the leak is coming from the cap, which somehow has been unscrewed. I tighten the cap and tell him that all cars will leak coolant when the cap is off and that I would have probably sold it to him for the 700 if he would have asked instead of trying to trick me and now the price is firm, and either you buy it or leave. They got in the truck and sat a few minutes then the dad came back apologized and told me they would go the ATM for the rest...... of course that was a 2 hours ago....... some people.

all you have to do to people like that is say this is the price and walk inside....mexicans are used to bartering and trying crooked tactics to lower your price, I should know I lived in south america for 2 years!! I don't play their games and I tell them this is the USA you play my game!! not the other way around!!
now that i remember, i had a feeling about that dude. so i had my buck hunting knife in my pocket.. its really big. so oh well. and plus my dad was inside..lol. but still i hate sellin crap. everyone wants something for nothing.....
