86 gt stock oil pressure gauge
is it possible to make a stock "oil pressure" gauge read like a real gauge? i know they are just an idiot light. maybe a different sending unit? i want to keep the stock cluster, but want a for real oil gauge. or are there after market gauges that will fit in the stock cluster

Have you ever taken apart the stock cluster??? If you were to put in aftermarket gauges you will have to put holes in the back of the cluster for the mounting and running of the wires. And the stock gauge is a real gauge. its just not the most accurate sometimes. Mine reads high in my 83 most of the time. I have a autometer mechanical gauge but I haven't found a good place to mount it yet without buying a gauge pod so its still in a box.
Florida5.o makes gauges clusters for stock locations.
Or try this

guess i'll go out today and check out the gauges. and yes i have taken the the stock cluster out many times. i guess now i have to figure out how to use the backlighting for the new gauge. in comment to mc-machine link. i too have a machine shop, so any kind of mods or neat stuff is at my fingertips. here's a pic of the dash faceplate i made for my 86 vert

if it was a real gauge shouldn't it move accordingly? mine goes right to half way when i start it up, and stays there no matter what. i'm just questioning something i read. if what you say is correct... then so be it. thankx for your input
