alright, so living in california is a b*tch when it comes to modding cars cause of smog. i have my smog pump bypassed but its still there taking up space. [:@] those two rubber hoses are still attached to the pump, to the metal pipe that is hooked to the back of the heads, and to that metal pipe that runs to the cats. sense i have no cats (ill have to put my stock h-pipe in for testing) that metal pipe that should be hooked to the h-pipe is just zip tied to the body so its not flopping around. any ways, heres the question:

is it possible for exhaust to run through that metal pipe in the back of the heads, through the rubber hoses behind the smog pump and into the metal pipe that is running to the cats (the ones that arent there so the pipe is open at that end)?

i know the pipe in the back of the head is tied into the exhaust ports so its possible just not sure how likely. i really should pull all the smog crap out thats left. the cats are gone and pump is bypassed. i keep hearing this exhaust sound and ive gone over every bolt (from headers to tips) about 5 times and nothing is loose

That pipe from the smog pump ONLY pumps air, not exhaust.

no im saying that the smog pump isnt hooked up so its not pumping but the hoses are still there. with no pressure from the smog pump, is it possible for the exhaust to flow back out of that pipe and down towards the midpipe?

No because the smog pump is sealed except for the outlet. Nothing can flow through the pump and the tubes. Maybe your getting an echo from the empty pipe? You should take the pipe off and then see what happens. You can always put it back on if you need to.
