Default vacuum sound


can someone please help. i had my car hooked up to a code reader and got a code 12. which is cant control rpm's at high rpm check. what is that supposed to mean lol. i also have a bbk cai. i hear the hiss i get from the cai but i also hear another hiss which sounds like i have a turbo (which i dont lol). can someone please tell me what the code means.

I got the same one a week ago. I've since found a huge vacuum leak and reconnected my PCV valve. Check your big systems, like vacuum and fuel pressure. Then check ignition stuff, coil, distributor, plugs..

Yep, I had that same hiss sound, turns out my PCV hose was off.. Check that PCV, it's likely the culprit.

ok i checked out the pcv valve and it is just fine. how can i check for vacuum leaks in the system myself without taking it to a smoke machine?

if you fix the vaccum leak reset the computer so you dont get that code again

without any special tools the only way I know to check for a vacuum leak is to let the engine run and listen to it, try to get an idea what general area the sound is coming from then feel around on any hoses or connections in the area, usually when you find it you'll both stop hearing the sound and the way the engine is running will change my '83 has more capped vacuum lines than ones that are actually in use I think unfortunately some of them are still plugged with bolts...
