89 5.0 manual stalls when exiting highway
Hello ;
I have a 1989 5.0 Mustang with a 60mm throttle body and a bbk intake these are the only modifications. Recently I wanted to push the car so I took it to 40mph in 1st and then to 60 in 2nd . After this the car started to stall when I go into neutral or come to a stop light or exit the highway.
I thought it might be the idle air control -- so I changed it .
I disconnected the battery hoping that mabye the computer would reset. But the problem still exsists.
It will idle fine all day if I dont drive it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
THanks

welcome to the forums BTW,
when you say you changed the idle air, you bought a new module?
if not, replace it, if so, check your mass air flow sensor, you might also have a vacuum leak, so check those too, take some carb cleaner and spray it around the vacuum lines, if the engine starts to rev up, then youve found the leak, fix it

Thank you for responding.. I will look at the MAF ect. I noticed on your tag line that you have AFR 165 heads. I was considering putting these on the otherwise stock 5.0 that I have perhaps up grading the rockers 10 1.7 and maybe chaning the cam to extreme comp. Have you had much gain with your heads?
Again Thanks
Again Thanks

yeah, with the setup im expecting 300 whp....
if your planning on doing anything big after (boost, stroker, etc) go for the 185's, but otherwise, the 165s are fine. also you wont see nearly as much gain without an intake manifold and a cam to go with it.
