450+ HP with a 302. Comments

I did it too with absolutely no problems. I was pushing between 440 - 450HP. And that was RWHP, not BHP. And any of the people that were around the forums last year or two can verify that.
Basic mod list:
full exhaust, 1" intake spacer, 2-stage nitrous (first dry, second wet), 10 PSI supercharger (Procharger), methanol injection, 30# injectors, and other supporting mods (suspension, etc.)
I tuned it myself, did most all of the work myself, and it ran like a champ!

i had 461rwhp with my stock block (and stock cam) for little over a year before i cracked about half my piston rings all at once (lean condition). the motor had 112k miles at the time. and that was through an aod so if you figure 20% loss through the tranny thats 550hp on the stock block, daily driven and abused red light to red light.
if you have $5k to spend on the motor, pull the motor out, have it machined so its fresh, put new rings and bearings in it. balance the rotating assembly because you know ford half assed it the first time around and put the bottom end back together with a mild cam. get some gt40 heads and do some mild port work as well as mild port work on the intake. 65mm tb, larger mf, and new exhaust (headers to tips). then get yourself a 100 shot of nitrous and youll make 400rwhp and still have at least $2000 in your pocket to get gears a limited slip and suspension mods. itll be reliable, itll handle well, and itll kill 95% of the cars on the road
cant be easier then that
.....plan on a new fuel pump for that level of hp

You know.. I was just wondering where you had been. I kinda just started posting here again and didn't see you around. So fill me in... how is the twin turbo project coming along? Last thing I recall, you and Easton had some BADASS setups in the works.

it ran for a while but had bugs. i set the stang aside and bought an 07 f150. i just paid off the truck and am now rebuilding the turbo kit. found some exhaust leaks and some electrical issues that im fixing right now.....slowly. hope to be driving it again in a month or so. ive lost contact with easton about 10 months ago. last time i talked to him he stopped working on the stang and bought an el camino that was already built. he also bought a jet boat with a 460 and a 200 shot of nitrous on it.

Just wanted to post that until recently I thought my stock 302 was doing a good job at handling all the abuse I was giving her. Well, the other day I noticed the car was steaming a little antifreeze from under the hood, then started smoking out the pipes too. Had to park it but haven't had a chance to look into whats the problem (either bad head gasket or something much worse). Anyhow haven't logged onto here in a while but now am thinking about getting a AM block or upgrading to 351 W. My horsepower on dyno is in my sig, and that was before adding a methanol injecting system...
