Default Identifying a "world class" vs

I have an '84 5.0 GT with a 5spd. Previous owner said he upgraded the trans to a "world class" from a T5. How can I identify the tranny? The shifter is sloppy and I want to replace it,so I need to make sure I get the right one.

The world class is the same as a t-5. No difference.

22.3. World Class vs. Non-World Class

A World Class T5 can easily be distinguished from a non-World Class T5 by the examining the front countershaft bearing race. The non-World Class T5 countershaft rides on flat roller bearings that are retained in a stamped steel shell, which has a smooth outside surface (Figure 22-5). The World Class T5 countershaft rides on tapered roller bearings. The front bearing race is cast and is embossed with a bearing number; e.g., Timken LM67010 (Figure 22-6).

a world class t5 is no different than a t5. there are three t5s an early 80's thats just a t5 a late 80's which is called the world class because it was an updgrade from the first and the 3rd which was in last couple of years where just called t5s and they were the strongest. the world class is really nothing but a mid to poor version of the t5. so I wouldn't worry about which you have.</P>
