I'm talking to a few builders right now. Brian at Texas Hot Rods is making me a quote I think is was Leoroy maybe at T&L quoted me the 7g price with all the accerories installed etc. I also got a quote from a guy in Tn who cn do a 525bhp 520tq for closer to 8g's. I really think I wanna stay with the manual idea I am one of those folks who enjoys shifting my muscle cars.

thank you! i agree completely. that is all i drive
if you're going all the way up to a 347. my personal feeling is that's pushing a 302 block to the max, unless its a world or dart block, i avoid them. and i would just grab a 351 for a little extra

Oh and I still need to paint the car install all the interior get wheels and all that ****. I know it would be a **** load cheaper to dump this car and just get one already built but its became a matter of principle to me and I've already lost all this money up to this point I have to see the damn thing through to the end.

OK so then with the TKO do I need any special cables etc to make it work with my 89. I don't wanna buy the same stuff twice.

it was fun while it lasted but yea go with a tko 600 especially if you already have 500 ft/lbs of torque

I'm not in any way against the idea of the tko. BUt a performance built T-5 is half the price.

all you need for a tko, is the bellhousing and a new clutch with the right spline count, a slip yoke for the driveshaft. other than that, you can cut the welds off the stock crossmember and allow it to slide and save like 60 bucks

there is a lot more to transmission than just straight TQ rating numbers. the TKO design is overall better that it will consistantly handle 500-600 tq on a daily basis. if you heard the rep on here in the other thread talkin up the TKO's you'll see its a better trans. but if you go online and google some info about how trans designs make the trans you'll see why the TKO is such a better buy

for one the overall weight of a trans helps determine the amount of TQ it can withstand on a consistant basis. think of it as a 300lb man(347 stroker) tackling a 75lb child(T5). he'll easily mow that kid over. now if you put a 300lb man(347 stroker) tackling a 250lb man(TKO) now it will be more of a challange to tackle him. same thing with car accidents, usually the heavier vehicle wins.

i cant find the website for the life of me but they broke down a modded T5 and a TKO and showed where elements was better than the other. for the most part TKO was way better in most aspects.

Yeah I contacted amp performance they have a conversion kit basically comes with everything from the flywheel back. Steel bellhousing. Clutch TKO 600 driveshaft trans mount and I can't remeber what all else for 3750 shipped to my house. Alot of money and more than I wanted to spend. But what can you do right if you wanna play you gotta pay right
