Ignition Switch Cylinder Questions
Hi Guys, I Got 2 Questions,
I have 2 Mustangs.... 1992 5.0 Hardtop Manual, and a 1993 5.0 Convertible Automatic.
When I look at these 2 switch cylinders, one has a wire coming out of it, and the other does not. The manual one does not have this wire coming out but the automatic does.
My 2nd question is why the heck does the 5 speed mustang have that stupid push button on the bottom of the column to get the key out? I am doing a convert from auto to manual and vice versa with these 2 cars and would like to keep everything as original as possible. How do I remove that mechanism as a whole to put it on the other car? I found a site that destroys the button, but i dont want to do that.
Thanks

I think the wire is for a key buzzer. I think the reason that the manual car has button on the column is to remind you to have it in gear before you pull the key out. I'm not sure how you change the whole mechanism but you may have to swap the steering columns in the cars.
