3.73 or 4.10

Less rpm doesnt always mean less fuel consumption. If the engine is turning to slow the engine will lug and use more fuel.

Right if you go up a hill and have it on the floor and not turning any rpm it will suck gas but if you can go up the turning more rpm but less throttle it will take less gas.

OK, just fyi, I recently went from 3.73's to 4.10's. On the way to the install, I recorded the rpm's at 60/70/80/90 mph. After the install, there was barely any noticeable difference in rpm. Just some food for thought.

Its only 228 rpm difference at 70 from 3.73's to 4.10's. At 6000rpm I could run 113 in 4th with 4.10's or with 3.73's 124 mph.

My vote is for 3.73 gears with a stock or mild 5.0. With the short tire and a motor that signs off at about 5200 RPM's, my experience is that the 4.10 is to low. Back in 1990 I ordered a new 5.0 5spd with no options. I tried just about every bolt on item they made and tried different gear ratios also. On a stock motor with just bolt ons, the 3.73 was quicker in the 1/4 with slicks than the 4.10 gear. Now change the heads, intake and run a bigger cam then the 4.10 may prevail because the engine will lose bottom end and make HP to 6500 RPM's. Just my opinion, other opinions will vary with the gear ratio question.
