Exactly what I'm saying. Your pick up is submersed even with 2 or 3L's in the pan. It will not suck air until you introduce some G's to the oil but if you have no bubbles this may not be the case.

I've seen leaking pick up tubes cause similar problems. Rare but the same. Since the tube is in vacuum it will easily introduce air into the oil pressure side.
