Default Swapping to Gt40 stuff, Coupple Qs

Well, i finally bought a set of Gt40 heads, they have already been resurfaced and cleaned up and i got them for a pretty decent deal.

I still havent decided between the TFS stage 1, comp xe270 or xe274

but my main question is when i get the matching springs for the cam i chose, is it allright for me to use the stock rockers? because i really dont have a whole lot of cash lying around to throw a set of roller rockers on there.

Any opinions on the cam choice would be appreciated aswell.

Thanks,
Keith

I have the same heads with the TFS1 cam and I like it. My heads came with new crane springs so I didnt change them. You can use the stock rockers with those heads.

I don't know if you knew it but comp make these http://store.summitracing.com/part rockers. They are pretty nice and cheap. It would be nice to have a better set of rockers in it if you are going to be pounding on it.

Listen, I had this EXACT setup, you have a great setup going for you.

1. Clean mill/shave the heads .020 of an inch $80

2.USE THE TFS-1 CAM, STOCK ROCKERS. $160

3.Set your timing to about 16* BEFORE Top Dead Center(O),. $0

4. Get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and set the pressure to 39psi, and have fun!!!!! $75

5.Install and gap set of new copper spark plugs.$15

Expect a 40 hp gain, which is big through a T-5, than automatic.

260hp 325 tq at the crank id say.

thank you very much, the heads have been resurfaced on the combustion side, also it appears that some porting was done because there are remnants of blue dye in the ports.

I also have the BBK adjustable FPR and gauge. so im almost there

also, if applicable, set the fuel pressure with no vacuum line attached to the regulator.

Whats weird, my pressure stays the same rather or not vacuum is present ; ).
On the dyno, even at WOT,the pressure didn't flinch or fluctuate.

hmm thats strange, my fuel pressure was actually set with the vac line connected (before i bought it) so i brought it home and took the vac line off and it was 10psi too high...

Wink

with the gt-40 intake if you have one, the vacuum routing will require a little tinkering, nothing you will not be able to handle.

Some ADJUSTABLE regulators have a provision for a vacuum line some do not(like mine).

Mine just adjust with a screw at top,no provision for the vac line that was on the old, so I capped it off.

When I wanted to remove vacuum, I removed a small vacuum line to the intake.

No change in pressure. But also note, my cam doesn't make much of any vacuum I believe,
this might explain why the pressure didn;t change with no vacuum ,

maybe someone can chime me in on that
