I run Synthetic ATF, tried GM synchromesh and there was even thick 90w gear oil in it when I bought it. All have no noticeable difference but I do sleep better at night knowing I have the good stuff in there.

I put RP Synchromax in mine at 135K. No problems...

Default I like Synchromesh

We use Synchromesh in everything. ATF won't hurt a thing, but Synchromesh is heavier and clings to the synchros, helping synchronization. I see that someone, I think it's Penzoil, now has Synchromesh at the parts stores. Either GM's protection on the forumula ran out or they licensed it out. It was about four bucks a quart cheaper than getting it over the counter at a GM dealer, plus it keeps you from having to visit the Bowtie boys. AP
