What is the purpose of the air tube that connects at the h-pipe and goes in the engine compartment on the passengers side and goes towards the rear of the intake? I have owned 3 mustangs and all have had the tubes pinched off? on the gt i just bought(87') it was all connected. and now i have added a offroad h-pipe and not sure wether to just crimp the tubes like the past cars or rehook it up

That tube normally connects to the smog pump, it injects fresh air into the exhaust to help the cats burn off all the nasty stuff in the exhaust. Since you added an off road h, just crimp it or cap it.

the thermactor air system injects air into the exhaust to heat the cats up quicker on cold start up to bring the cats online quicker thus reducing emissions
