Question Do I need aftermarket roller rockers!?

Ok, I think everyone has seen me ask about roller rockers.

really getting close to buying them if i am getting them.

My thinking behind getting these is not for power, but to make the nitrous more reliable, i have this odd thought in my head that the 110lb springs i now have, and the nitrous will make the roller rockers flex, or something, causing valve lift, which could case a backfire while on the juice.

Sitting here thinking about it, I recall ppl like nitrous bob (where did he go anyway?) that spray the crap out of there cars, and run stock roller rockers.

so what do you guys think?

stay stock, and save the $300 for something else (racing seats, or Pmas maf and 24lb injectors) or do you think the rocker's would help while on the nitrous?

and if i do need to upgrade, i should upgrade my pushrods too?
(if so, what pushrods should i use?)

also recommend some to me, im totally confused.

i want 1.6's because i dont want more lift, but i have NO idea what size i need (3/8?) or the other mesurments, or what pushrod's i need.....

ive tryed to look around a bit, but find no information for roller rockers used with nitrous, its always someone trying to get a little more power out of them, not trying to be more reliable.

im probly just being parinoid..........

thanks!

i cant answer your question in terms if it will make your car more relaible when you spray however i can tell you if you do buy roller rockers youll definitley want to buy new pushrods (hardned) you can buy them from summit or anywhere there the same exact sizes you have just "hardned". You will also want to upgrade your valve springs while your in there.

How much of a shot is it? I have seen people spray 50 - 100 shot all day for years on a completley stock valvetrain. Its all in how yoou have it set up. Spray is completley safe if you research it and use it correctly.

I hope i helped.

are they a "must have" ? no we sprayed a 100 shot on a completely stock 87 lx with the stock rocker arm sleds and never had any problems. the stock sleds are gonna flex wayyy more than any roller rocker. as stated above its all in the tune!

ive had the car on the dyno plenty, its safe.

i sprayed a 100shot mostly, a 150shot once on the dyno to see what was what.

i plan on 90% of the time spraying a 100shot untill i can get good with it, then bump it up to a 150shot.

I have 110lb springs with the stock pushrods and rockers, so thats another concern, i have these hard core springs, and a big shot of nitrous, but stock rockers and pushrods.

im no engine builder, so i have no clue how that effects anything...... so im worried, haha

just keep the springs that are matched to the cam you have, you'll be fine, I've sprayed a 100 shot a handful of times with no issues
