Thanks for answering guys. I didn't know the Cobra intakes came powder coated..I guess someone in the factory got carried away with mine or something. I guess I'm stuck with a nasty looking intake

nobody got carried away with your anything... nothing on your car got any special treatment... the problen is that your car is fking beat.

take it somewhere that can sandblast it (which means remove the intake.... dont try sandblasting your motor)

Na, I'm not going to get it sandblasted..I just wanted to know what was up with the tear in the manifold, why it was so rough and more importantly, I was hoping to learn a little about the car. It wasn't so much an issue if it recieved special treatment as I was wondering if a previous owner might have done something to the intake. The car itself is not beat, I know the manifold looks bad, but do not let this decieve you, it runs smooth, idles like it should, does not leak, 5speed works perfectly and most importantly gets me from work and back. Thanks for your help
