Default what mods should i do?

hi guys, i need your help. i have a budget of $3000 to work with. i wanted to do a 306 with an f-cam and some bolt-ons, but i dont really know what parts to use to build my engine. im hoping to be in the 350-390 hp range. what would be the best combination of parts to help me achieve my goal? also what is the most you can bore out a 302, i heard .60 over is the most but im not sure.
thanks

you can bore a 302 to .060 but most stay in the comfort zone of .030 to .040.......as for combo, I'd ditch the f-cam and have a custom cam designed , use an rpm or holley intake and trick flow heads or afr heads

Definitely with mjr on this one. Can't go wrong with a custom grind. I will say that the afr head are the ones to get. RPM intake and holley are the good ones as mjr stated. I would leave the short block alone right now if there's nothing wrong with it.

tHe first thing you need to reach you goal is more money. To do the bottom end with good pistons/rings and rods plus machine work (Better of buying a short block from a good builder) you are looking at a realistic 1200-1500 dollars. I've seen 302 blocks .060 over but I'd stick to .030 if possible. A good set of heads will run you 1100-1500 dollars a good intake 500+, good cam 250+ and then you have to add in all the small stuff, Timing chain, pushrods, gaskets, water pump, oil pump, headbolts, oil, filters, coolant and the list just keeps going. The little stuff really adds up.

there is nothing wrong with the short block, i did a compression test on it in october of 08 and it was from 140psi to 170psi on all 8 cylinders and it doesnt use a drop of oil, but it has 104,000 miles on it. i only wanted to go to a 306 so i could install some domed pistons to raise the compression and install new bearings, but $3200 is all the money i have to work with.
if i use the stock bottom end, what is the largest cam i can run with the afr 185 heads without having to fly cut the pistons? mjr said a holley or edelbrock rpm intake manifold. what about a trickflow street heat or track heat manifold?
would the afr heads, intake, and larger cam get me to the 300hp mark, cuz i already have bbk shorty headers, o/r h-pipe, 40 series delta flows, and a march ram air setup.
