Default measuring pushrods

will a stock roller lifter made solid work for measuring pushrod length if i am gonna run retrofit lifter? if not what do i use? these retrofits arnt cheap so i really hope i dont gatta by one to use

yes you can convert a stock lifter for checking purposes

ok i just wanted to know if measuring with a stock lifter that converted will yeild the right length pushrod to use with my retrofit lifters. im using a nonroller block with roller cam

^^^not sure.....but a quick way to check it when you first set them up, do it with both the converted one and retro one and see where the contact patch is on the stem and see if it contacts at the same spot, I color the tips of all stems with a black sharpie and then wiggle the rocker to see where the contact pattern begins

just use the same length push rod or same length on the checker for both set ups to confirm it

ok i will do that i have adjustable pr's and testing springs coming with the heads, since the retros are hydro and not solid they should still give me a close reading if they are correct

the checking springs will make things easy when it comes to checking things, a set came with my summit degree kit and they work well

ok may be a stupid question but i have read a few articles on this subject but never got this ansered. do you check every cylinder? and do you torque the head on then use that tools that allow you to swap springs 'forgot the name' with the heads on to change springs

grab your retrofit lifters and measure their height... if they are taller than the stock roller lifters, take the difference between the two, and SUBTRACT it from the push rod length that you get when measuring with a solid-converted hyd-roller lifter
